JIPMAT: Two IIMs. One exam. No interview.
Everything about the NTA-conducted entrance to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya.
What is JIPMAT?
The Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. One application makes you a candidate for both IIMs.
The IPM is a 5-year programme after Class 12 — BBA-level degree plus MBA, with an exit option after three years. It is a computer-based test, with the question paper in English, conducted in 80+ cities across India (including Lucknow) and several international cities.
Exam Pattern
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Aptitude | 33 questions | 132 marks |
| Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning | 33 questions | 132 marks |
| Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension | 34 questions | 136 marks |
Note: 100 MCQs, 400 marks, 150 minutes with no sectional time limit. +4 per correct answer, −1 per wrong answer, unattempted questions get zero.
The exam where your score is almost everything
Recent JIPMAT cycles have had no personal interview or group discussion. Each IIM prepares its own merit list based on JIPMAT scores along with parameters from its admission policy, such as academic profile and gender-diversity weightage.
And per the official syllabus, Quantitative Aptitude tests concepts only up to Class 10 mathematics — this is the most accessible of the three IPM entrances, which makes the competition about speed and accuracy, not advanced topics.
How selection works
JIPMAT score: the primary driver of both merit lists
Sectional cut-offs: you must clear each section, not just the total
Separate merit lists: IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya evaluate independently — one exam, two chances

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an interview?
Recent cycles have had no personal interview or group discussion — merit lists are built primarily on JIPMAT scores along with each IIM's admission-policy parameters.
Do I apply separately to IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya?
No. One NTA application makes you a candidate for both. Each IIM then releases its own merit list.
How hard is the maths?
Per the official syllabus, Quantitative Aptitude covers concepts up to Class 10 mathematics. The challenge is speed and accuracy under pressure, not advanced topics.
Is there negative marking?
Yes, −1 for every wrong answer across all sections.
How is JIPMAT different from IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak?
Different conducting bodies, different patterns. JIPMAT is NTA-conducted, 150 minutes, has a dedicated DILR section, and no interview round. Indore and Rohtak conduct their own tests and both include a personal interview. Serious aspirants prepare for all three — the core preparation overlaps heavily.
When is the right time to start?
12–18 months out. With no interview to compensate later, your test-day score decides everything — which rewards long, consistent preparation.
How Alpha prepares you for JIPMAT
THE FLOOR + THE REPS
DILR is a full third of this exam — live LRDI classes taught by the founder, with daily practice calibrated to JIPMAT's speed-and-accuracy game.
THE LOOP
With no interview to recover in, your score is everything. Every mock ends in a concrete plan, so weak areas get fixed before exam day, not discovered on it.
COMPASS
150 minutes, no sectional limits — your time-allocation strategy is a scoring weapon. Your mentor helps you build and rehearse your personal section order and time split.
